ClipIQ — Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 18, 2026  ·  Applies to the ClipIQ — Smart Clipboard History Chrome extension

Short version: ClipIQ is local-first. Your clipboard history is stored on your device and never leaves it in normal use. Only two optional, clearly-labeled features ever transmit text off your device: the opt-in AI features (Pro) and the opt-in Mellowtel support layer. Both are off until you explicitly turn them on, and both can be turned off at any time.

DEFAULT — ALWAYS LOCAL

What ClipIQ stores

No account, no sign-up, no email, no analytics. Uninstalling the extension deletes all local data.

What ClipIQ does NOT do

OPT-IN ONLY — PRO

AI features (Pro)

AI search, AI chat and AI labels are optional Pro features, disabled until you unlock them. When you use an AI feature, ClipIQ sends the minimum text needed to answer you — your search query or chat message, plus the clips relevant to that request — to our AI processing service over an encrypted connection, purely to generate your answer. That text is used only to serve your request and is not sold, shared, or used for advertising. Sensitive-looking clips (passwords, card numbers, API keys) are detected locally and never sent to AI.

Content you copy can include personal or private text; only clips you explicitly involve in an AI action are transmitted. If you never unlock or use AI features, nothing you copy ever leaves your device.

OPT-IN ONLY — PRO

Mellowtel support layer

Unlocking Pro includes a consent-based support layer provided by Mellowtel. With your explicit opt-in, it shares a small slice of unused bandwidth (not your data or browsing) to support the extension. You can opt out at any time from the Pro settings link — all Pro features and the support layer turn off together.
